Without confidence, everyday tasks such as meeting new people, your ability to visualise positive outcomes, and our potential to shape our lives, reduces. When we feel good about ourselves, our abilities and capabilities, we feel a sense of self-worth and optimism about our lives. 

 

Hypnotherapy is geat for improving and restoring confidence, whether it be in work or leisure time. Where does confidence come from? How come other people are so confident and I am not? and what is the link between my thinking patterns and my level of confidence? These are just some of the questions we may ask ourselves when we feel low in confidence. The answer lies in two places; negative thinking and perception of ourselves, and a difficulty in focusing upon what is happening now and spending too much time dwelling upon a negative past or creating negative future scenarios.

 

Having low confidence is a common issue but can be very debilitating, and if we get into a cycle of thinking negatively, which lead to negative outcomes, our belief that we do not have the capacity to succeed is continually confirmed, reinforcing our incorrect beliefs and strenthening our distorted thinking.

Looking at distorted and biased thinking is a key element when putting together your hypnotherapy programme because it gives us a roadmap to improving self belief and efficacy. We use not only hypnotherapy visualisation and metaphor techniques but also employ aspects of neurolinguistic programming to replace negative thoughts with positive ones.

When we have negative experiences, because of the brilliant human ability to predict and plan for future events, there can be a tendancy to develop a distorted expectation that any future events of a similiar nature will have a similar outcome, however logical or illogical that may be. It is this distorted negative thinking that undermines our confidence, thereby lessening the likelihood of success.

 

Hypnotherapy works to shift these thinking patterns toward positive and realistic projections which will allow you to function free from the anxiety of failure, and unburden yourself from the weight of past experiences that may not have had a favourable outcome. Working in improving people's confidence is one of the really effective realms that hypnotherapy can be applied to and has a particularly high success rate in producing positive outcomes.
