sports performance

There are several sports professions in which hypnotherapy is actually quite common; snooker and golf being two of the most prominent. Sometimes sportsmen and sportswomen are in great physical shape but for some reason are unable to unlock the will power and concentration that may be required.
This is an important point about hypnosis; nothing is being given to you except the opportunity to access resources that you already possess. The ability to concentrate, 'think outside the box', and push past the limits we think we are constrained by, are all things that can be done independently. Hypnosis allows us to tap into those resources and put them to good use. Many sports people take advantage of this opportunity.
Not realising our full potential, or not being able to fulfil our potential, is an odd situation; what is stopping us from doing so? This can be extremely frustrating business, feeling that we ar capable of so much more than we are. The hypnosis methods, and hypnotherapy generally, used in sports performance, are applicable to realising our potential generally. The problem many of us face is thinking in a groove, we usually think of our actions being repetitive but really we are talking about our thoughts.
Security and familiarty are states that all brains work toward, and not just human ones. This is very helpful in some respects, eliminating unpredictable factors and allowing us to build an environment which is safe and secure and best suited to our ongoing survival. However, one of the drawbacks is that we begin to limit our potential, including sports performace, by finding it hard to embrace new ways of thinking and subsequently adopting progressive and dynamically adaptive behaviours. When we think of the nature of reality we may realise that it is not predictable and so we are trying to place a stable thinking framework upon something which is constantly changing, thus problems arise and we begin to feel we have no control.
