Belief, Imagination, Conviction, Expectation. How is it that when we cannot imagine something it rarely becomes a reality? How is it that when we expect something to occur with a strong conviction it often does? We set our own boundaries, build our own barriers. Our experience of existence is created by our minds interpretation of external stimulus. Our experience is the world, and vice versa. Obviously there are certain absolute parameters pertaining to scientific forces which govern mass, gravity etc however with regard to our capabilities within them, the limits are prescribed by ourselves. The resource available to us which governs the extent to which we can make events happen and purposely shape our world consists made up of Belief, Imagination, Conviction, and Expectation. If these states can be fostered and nurtured life seems to travel down a path agreeable to us and in line with our hopes and dreams. Hypnotherapy also contains much of these factors, especially when we use future pacing when in hypnosis. This entails the client vividly imagining, believing in change, being convinced of their abilities, and expecting with no doubt their desired behavioural shift. As previously discussed, the subconscious responds to imagery rather than rational and by believing in the change they require the mind will make efforts to align itself to this unshakable vision in the best interests of the health of orgainsm it serves.
